I had never heard of Chris Gantry until I bought a 2-CD compilation titled "Outlaws & Armadillos: Country's Roaring '70s". Along with the usual "outlaw" artists such as Waylon and Willie, David Allan Coe, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, Tom T. Hall, and on and on, was a dynamite track by Chris Gantry 4/5(2).

Chris Gantry was a songwriter to the stars and performer in his own right. He’d been offered lodgings at Johnny Cash’s Nashville home in the early ‘70s after some police/weed trouble. He also convinced Cash to let him record in his studio.
